Water Service Restored
If your water has been off for repairs, there's usually very little that you will need to do when it's restored. Here are a few precautions to take when it comes back on:
1. Turn on a Cold Tap Slowly - Run the cold water in your kitchen or bathroom sink for a minute or two to flush out any air or slight discoloration from the pipes.
2. Check for Air in the Lines - You might hear sputtering or see cloudy water at first - this is normal and should clear quickly.
3. Avoid Using Hot Water Right Away - Let cold water run clear before turning on hot taps, to avoid pulling any sediment into your water heater.
4. Flush Toilets - Flush each toilet a time or two to make sure water flow is normal.
5. Check for Discoloration - If water is brown or rusty, keep running it until clear. If it doesn't clear up in 5-10 minutes contact the Water Department.
6. Clean Aeroators if Pressure is Low - Sediment may clog faucet screens, so remove and rinse them if needed.
