Unite Iowa

Waverly-Shell Rock Area United Way has joined Unite Iowa.  As partners, they can serve the people in the community by collaborating with providers across health and social services.  


Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation

NEICAC is a 501(c)3 private non-profit operating in NE Iowa that provides assistance with basic needs such as food, shelter, and utilities by charitable donations from individuals, businesses, school/church groups. 
Programs offered: Low-Income Home Energy Assistance, Low-Income Water Assistance, Emergency Utility & Rent Assistance, Food Pantry, Head Start, Weatherization, Family Development & Self-Sufficiency Program, Energy Crisis Intervention Program, Tenant Based Rental Assistance, and Disaster Assistance when declared by the Governor

Food Programs

Northeast Iowa Food Bank

Provides food and grocery products to nonprofit organizations and individuals in NE Iowa.  Programs include:

  • Mobile Food Pantry located at the Waverly City Hall - 200 1st. St. NE, Waverly.  Second Tuesday of each month from 5:30pm - 6:30pm

  • Elderly Food Boxes through the Senior Center for homebound Seniors and Bags of Food for Seniors in need who come to the Center.

Free Community Meal at St. Paul's Lutheran Church- 301 1st Street NW, Waverly.
Every Monday night from 5:00pm - 6:30pm

Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging

This organization connects older adults, caregivers, and persons with disabilities to the services they need to remain independent.  
Programs offered: congregate meals at the Waverly Senior Center, home delivered meals, frozen and shelf stable meals for weekends and inclement weather, and Senior Farmers Market Program

Summer Lunch Program

Weekday lunches and activities for youth ages 5-18 June 12- August 11 at Southeast Elementary- 809 4th Street SE, Waverly

WIC (Women, Infants, & Children)

Resources and aid for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and for children under the age of 5 who are found to be at nutritional risk. 
Programs offered: supplemental nutritious foods, nutrition education and counseling at WIC clinics, screening and referrals to other health, welfare and social services

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

This program provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budget of needy families so they can purchase healthy food and move towards self-sufficiency.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

This resource provides cash for families with low or very low incomes to meet basic needs.  To be eligible, an individual must have a child that is 18 years old or younger, be pregnant or be 18 years or younger and the head of household.

Provides emergency living assistance to Bremer or Butler County residents

Cedar Valley Friends of the Family

Provides assistance to anyone that is suffering from domestic violence/ sexual assault and/or is struggling with homelessness.
Programs offered: emergency safe shelter, rapid-rehousing, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and prevention education

Provides emergency food boxes and transitional housing to individuals and familes who are victims of domestic violence.
