Zoning Change

Rezoning means a change in the regulations governing how property and structures may be used.  Property owners may pursue the process of rezoning by filling out an application, submitting the fee, and bringing forth the request to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a public hearing and recommendation.  Following the Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation, the City Council decides on all rezoning requests.

• All rezoning requests in Waverly are compared to the Waverly Comprehensive Land Use Plan (update 2023).  
• The rezoning process takes one Planning and Zoning Commission meetings and three City Council meetings to complete the ordinance amendment process(three readings are required to amend the Zoning Map, a part of the City Ordinance).
