Friends of WPL
The Friends of the Waverly Public Library provide invaluable financial and volunteer support to the library. The Friends raise funds through two main channels, the used book sale room in the library and donations from members of the community like you! A donation of time or money goes directly toward helping the library succeed in its mission to be "Your window to information, recreation, and community."

Friends supported programs and initiatives include:
Bus Trips to WPL: Costs for monthly library visits are paid by Friends for Grades K-4. A trip can be sponsored for approximately $25. You, too, can participate by writing a check to the Friends of the Waverly Public Library and specifying that it is for the busing program.
Summer Reading Program Presentations and Prizes: Friends fund special programs and prizes for the summer programs for children, teens, and adults.
Books for New Babies: Friends present a new book to each baby born at the Waverly Hospitals & Clinics each year.
Books for Kindergarteners: The Friends present a new book to each kindergartener at Waverly-Shell Rock.
Mysteries and Munchies Book Club: Books by mystery authors are discussed on the second Sunday beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the library. Friends sponsor this delight for book and mystery lovers.
Celebrity Readers: During the month of April, local celebrities are asked to come to the library and read to school classes. What a treat to see that very important book and literacy connection modeled by our own leaders!
DVD Collections: Continuous purchase of BBC and PBS production series.
Special Programs: Friends support and fund special events for all ages throughout the year.
American Girl Doll: Purchased Kit Kittredge doll from the American Girls series for check out.
Read 'til YA Drop: Adult book club that reads young adult fiction. Group meets the 4th Tuesday every month.
Do It Yourself Nights: Friends of the WPL sponsor the DIY classes for adults which meet the second Tuesday of each month September - May.
Book Page: A monthly book review magazine purchased by the Friends. Pick up your free copy at the circulation desk.
