Waverly-Shell Rock Community Schools

The Waverly-Shell Rock Community Schools are located within the communities of Waverly and Shell Rock. The district is comprised of seven schools including five elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. The district strives “to create a passion for learning that will sustain students for a lifetime”. With outstanding faculty and engaged students, W-SR Community Schools have consistent high test scores, and are highly regarded nationally, earning a bronze medal from the U.S. News and World Report. The school district has also been an early technological adopter using the one-to-one iPad program and implementing a new engineering curriculum.

Wartburg College

Wartburg College, founded in 1852, is a selective four-year liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church (ELCA), and is nationally recognized for community engagement. The college offers over 50 majors, pre-professional programs and certificate programs leading to the bachelor's degree. Wartburg has been ranked in The Princeton Review's rankings of "Best Midwestern Colleges", as well as in U.S. News and World Report's annual rankings of "America's Best Colleges".
 

Hawkeye Community College

Hawkeye Community College is an accredited two-year comprehensive community college that offers a wide range of vocational, technical and career programs. Located 30 minutes from Waverly in Waterloo, Iowa and with a satellite center in Waverly, it is also an active member of the Region 7 Workforce Development system. Hawkeye operates and maintains several employment and training programs, and serves as a channel for state and federal funding.

University of Northern Iowa

The University of Northern Iowa is located 25 minutes from Waverly in Cedar Falls, Iowa. With an enrollment of 12,000 students, UNI prides itself on providing private school class sizes at a public school price. Known for its education and business programs, UNI produces students with a desire to continue learning and the knowledge to work effectively in any number of businesses.

Allen College of Nursing

Allen College, located 30 minutes from Waverly in Waterloo, Iowa, is run by UnityPoint Health and provides a large number of graduate programs in healthcare fields. Primarily known for their nursing program, Allen also provides opportunities to earn masters and doctoral degrees. The college is dedicated to providing “a holistic approach to education recognizing the uniqueness of each student”. 

Upper Iowa University

Upper Iowa University is an accredited four-year college offering a variety of programs and tracks for students of any age. UIU provides an on-campus community located 50 minutes away from Waverly in Fayette, Iowa, as well as global access to an online or self-paced degree program, lifelong learning and professional development courses and courses designed for high school students to get ahead on credits. For nearly 160 years, UIU has been a well-known presence in the state of Iowa.
