Summer 2025 Teen Program Descriptions

Mystery Night:
June 6th 5:30-7:30 PM
A wallet lost six months ago has just been found at Mystic Point Train Station—its contents untouched, its owner nowhere to be found. It looks like a simple case of lost property…but it isn’t. Work together to solve the case and try to be the fastest team!

Farmer's Market and Lego Challenges:
Saturdays in June from 9-10 AM
Come find the bookmobile at the Waverly Farmers Market the first three Saturdays in June and participate in an exciting Lego challenge each week! All ages welcome!

Yoga at the Library:
June 9th and July 7th 10-10:45 AM
Join us near the Library's garden for a beginner yoga session led by Mrs. Jeffcoat Schedtler on June 9th, and Alisha Kapparos on July 7th. It will be the perfect way to start your day! Open to those who completed 5th-12th grade this school year.

Pokemon Club:
Monday Nights 5-7 PM
Pokemon Club continues to meet through the summer, but don't think it'll be business as usual! Earn raffle tickets throughout the summer to win Pokemon themed prizes (drawing at the final Pokemon Club meeting of the summer on July 21st). All ages welcome!

Pokemon TCG Tournament:
June 23rd 5-7 PM
On top of normal Pokemon Club, on June 23rd, there will be a Pokemon Trading Card Game tournament for ages 6-18. There will be card pack prizes for first, second, and third!

Teen Night @ WPL:
Most Monday Nights 7-8:30 PM
Monday nights at the library are for the teens! Join each week for a variety of events catering to those who have completed 9th-12th grades. See the calendar for what's happening each week!

Waverly Art Center Craft-along:
Most Tuesdays 1-3 PM
Painting! Photography! Sculpture! Have fun expressing yourself with these mediums and more with the Waverly Art Center's experts. Open to those who completed 5th-12th grade this school year. Registration required.

Teen/Tween Book Club:
June: Wednesdays 10-11 AM
July: Wednesdays 10-10:45 AM for 6-8th Grade, 10:45-11:30 AM for 9-12th Grade
Beat the summer slide by joining a book club at WPL! This year, teens and tweens will join together for the month of June to read Rez Ball by Byron Graves. On June 25th, we will get a chance to join other libraries in Iowa to have a LIVE Q&A with Byron himself! Book club will continue in July with 6-8th graders reading Meanwhile by Jason Shiga and 9-12th graders reading Dungeons and Drama by Kristy Boyce. Readers will get their own copy to keep for July selections. Registration required.

D&D One Shot:
Wednesdays 2-3:30 PM
Embark on a bite sized campaign that's great for beginners and pros alike. Sign up for the D&D One Shot, where we will start and finish a campaign in an hour and a half! Registration is required. Only sign up for ONE session during the course of the summer program. Open to those who completed 5th-12th grade this school year.

Cook Along
Wednesdays at 5:30
Join us online as we cook fresh summer dinners together! Recipes will be posted ahead so you can gather supplies. Some of the key ingredients will be available to pick up at the library before the program each week.

Intergenerational Card Club:
Thursdays 2-3:30 PM
We had so much fun with this program last year, we're bringing it back! Join us at the Eisenach Club House to play cards with people of all ages! We'll play old card games and learn new ones. All ages are welcome!

Smash Bros 1v1 Tournament at Wartburg E-Sports Room:
June 23rd 2- ~4 PM
Join us at Wartburg's state of the art e-sports room for our annual Summer Super Smash Bros Tournament! The tournament will begin at 2:00 and go until complete (varies based on number of participants). First place: $50, second place: $25, $10 raffle for all other participants. Open to all ages.

Guitar Class with Kyle Fleming:
July 7-11 2-3 PM
Join local guitarist and Wartburg Music Therapy professor Kyle Fleming for a week long guitar class that will be perfect for any new guitarist! Class will meet July 7-11th @ 2:00. Guitars provided. Registration required. Open to those who completed 5th-12th grade this school year.

Board Game Night:
July 8th 6:30-8 PM
We'll have WPL's huge collection of board games ready for this all ages board game night! Come play an old favorite or try something new!

Teen Swap Meet:
July 11th 10-12 PM
Ready for a refresh for your wardrobe? Bring something you don't wear anymore and trade with something new to you! Not required to bring clothing to swap but highly encouraged. Open to those who completed 5th-12th grade this school year.

Pet Project Runway:
July 12th
Design and create outfits for your pet! Try to take home the "best in show" fashion trophy for an outfit you created on your model, your pet, to walk the runway. Most of the day will be for design and creation of the pet outfits, and then at the end of the day a public runway show will feature all of the contestants' designs and their models/pets!

Cryptid Hunt:
Bigfoot has arrived in Waverly…and he's on the prowl! Each week, find clues at the library to uncover where Bigfoot is hiding. Get the password from each location and earn a raffle ticket for the prizes!

● Lock In: Lock In tickets must be submitted by July 17th! You and a friend can win a lock in at WPL! Activities will be held well into the night, and there will be pizza and ice cream galore! The lock in will be July 24th from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Up to 5 winners.
