Waverly, IA-In October, the Waverly Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors visited three Waverly businesses, presenting two Progress Awards and one First Dollar Award.

Renewed Purpose received a Progress Award in recognition of their upcoming fifth anniversary celebration. To celebrate this milestone, Renewed Purpose will be having a celebration on Thursday, November 2nd with special discounts, door prizes and food samples. Renewed Purpose is known for their variety of repurposed furniture. Inventory moves fast and there is always something new at Renewed Purpose! They also carry vintage items, seasonal décor, art from local artists, Hennings popcorn (from Waverly), O’Briens Gourmet Granola (from Center Point), Madison County Wine, essential oils and organic hair/body care products. Receiving a Progress Award was Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa for being named the National Agency of the Year for the second-straight year. The organization also won the 2017 Iowa Give Back Challenge. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa’s mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Our vision is that all children achieve success in life. By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in our community, Big Brothers Big Sisters is accountable for each child in their program to achieve: higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships, avoidance of risky behaviors, and educational success. This school year, 100 Bremer County youth (and 500 overall in Northeast Iowa) will be matched with a Big Brother or a Big Sister. The Ambassadors also presented Sasquatch Jacks Hideaway Barroom and Grill with a First Dollar Award. The restaurant recently opened at 118 10th Street SW in Waverly. Their menu features made-from-scratch homestyle eats, from Chicken Shells n’ Cheese to Hand Stuffed Burgers. There is a meal for everyone at Sasquatch Jacks! The restaurant and barroom host a variety of events including karaoke, arts and crafts classes with Bobby Hart Design Farm and will soon have live music shows. Sasquatch Jacks prides itself on being a food and drink establishment with the right focus in mind—its customers. The kitchen at Sasquatch Jacks is open from 11:00 AM-10:00 PM, Monday-Saturday and 11:00 AM-8:00 PM Sunday. The bar is open until 2:00 AM, as needed.
