Flooding Alert - Be Prepared, Waverly (6/27/25)
posted in Public Works on June 27, 2025
The City of Waverly is continuing to monitor river conditions. At this time, the National Weather Service is predicting the following Cedar River crests:
- 12.4 feet in Charles City on Saturday, June 28th.
- 9.5 feet in Janesville on Sunday, June 29th.
If the predictions are correct, we do not expect flooding. It is important to note that these predictions may be altered by additional rainfall to the north.
For reference the river crests that we had in the June 2024 flooding were:
- 21.57 feet in Charles City
- 14.36 feet in Janesville
- 11.91 feet in Waverly
These water levels caused some flooding and closed roads in southeast Waverly, with minimal property damage.
