Eastgate Lift Station Replacement Project Underway
posted in Public Works on September 18, 2026
Work has begun on the Eastgate Lift Station replacement project along East Bremer Avenue. This project will replace the existing lift station, which has faithfully served the community for nearly 50 years and has reached the end of its service life.
The new lift station will be built farther away from the roadway, providing safer and more efficient access for maintenance crews and helping ensure reliable operation for years to come.
What is a lift station?
A lift station is a pumping facility that helps move wastewater when gravity alone can't do the job. Think of it as an elevator for wastewater. Lift stations collect sewage and pump it to a higher elevation so it can continue its journey to the wastewater treatment plant.
These facilities are a critical part of our sanitary sewer system, helping prevent backups and overflows while ensuring wastewater is transported safely and efficiently throughout the community.
Dirt work began this week, and the project is expected to be completed by winter.
