Waverly, IA – The Waverly Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors recently held two ribbon cuttings in Waverly, presenting one new business with a First Dollar Award and two existing businesses with Progress Awards.
The Ambassadors met with Beau Van Gelder and presented him with a Progress Award to celebrate his new role as store director of the Waverly Hy-Vee as of March 2025. As a longtime community staple, Hy-Vee plays an essential part in supporting local shoppers with quality products, friendly service, and a wide range of conveniences. With Beau’s leadership, the store is poised to continue enhancing the customer experience, strengthening community connections, and building on Hy-Vee’s commitment to helpfulness and hospitality. His dedication, vision, and passion for serving others make him a great fit for this role, and he is ready to support the stores continued success.
The Ambassadors met with owner Brian Hockey to hold a ribbon cutting and present a Progress Award in celebration of the new Hockey’s Smokehouse storefront, located at 104 2nd St. NW in Waverly. This retail location expands on the success of Brian’s popular BBQ food trailer, introduced in 2024, by offering a dedicated space for customers to purchase his signature products. The storefront features a wide selection of items including seasonings, sauces, smoked cheese, and more, bringing the flavors of Hockey’s Smokehouse to home kitchens and backyard grills. Brian’s craftsmanship and commitment to quality make this new storefront a flavorful addition to Waverly’s business community.
The Ambassadors met with owners Cortney Manning and Holly Richards to hold a ribbon cutting and First Dollar Award celebration to celebrate the opening of the physical location for Two Chicks Fluff & Fold, located at 112 1st St. NE. Two Chicks Fluff & Fold offers convenient, high-quality wash and fold services that help individuals, families, and businesses save time and simplify their routines. With a focus on reliability, care, and customer service, the business is quickly becoming a welcome addition to the community. Their commitment to making laundry easier and providing fresh, neatly folded results positions them as a valuable resource for residents, businesses and organizations throughout Waverly.
The Waverly Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Program serves as a public relations arm of the Waverly Chamber by welcoming new businesses, recognizing business expansion efforts, and recruiting new members to the organization.
