Dr. Sean Sha will speak from his personal experience as a physician, patient, and family member to help attendees understand how to communicate more effectively with their healthcare provider(s). During his talk he will reveal the real-life day-to-day experience of a hospitalist (doctor who works in the hospital), his own experiences receiving care from doctors (and how shocked he was at how poorly he was treated, even though the other doctor knew he was also a doctor!), explain the mentality and mindset of a doctor (how they think), and conclude with some techniques patients can use to try to help the doctor understand them. Instead of just crossing fingers and hoping that the next doctor will be a great listener.

Dr. Sean Sha received his bachelors of science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, UC Berkeley and his degree as a Medical Doctor from Loma Linda University. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Kaiser Santa Clara. His most recent assignment is as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist, at Alaska Native Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. He is also the proud father of Sol.
Dr. Sha has worked from Maine to Alaska, through more than a dozen hospitals, he has realized that everywhere in America doctors and patients cannot communicate. Which, in today's age of too-short visits and multi-tasking doctors, is more important than ever. He has learned a few things from his own experience working in hospitals, and many more things in the past few years from being a patient, whether dealing with his wife's pregnancy or his own medical issues, and would like to share what he has learned.
