MEDIA RELEASE #9:   Update on Cedar River Flooding in Waverly

The Cedar River in Waverly crested at 13.17 feet on Saturday at 11:00 p.m.

The river is expected to recede slowly and the southeast Waverly neighborhood is expected to remain inaccessible until Monday, September 26.

When water has receded and the City has authorized residents to return to their homes, Waverly Utilities staff will be going door to door to begin electric reconnections to homes which can safely be turned back on.  If the homeowner is not present or if the electricity is not ready to be turned on, we are asking customers to please call 319-559-2000 to schedule an appointment.  Please go to www.waverlyutilities.com for more details.

If your property is without gas and you are ready to have it turned back call on, call MidAmerican Energy at 888-427-5632.

If needed, cleanup kits are also available at Grace Baptist Church.

Welcome to Waverly. Great schools. Diverse housing options. Robust job market. Top-flight indoor rec center. Outdoor recreation adventures of all kinds. Prestigious Wartburg College. And a safe and welcoming community of people who value the good life in a beautiful place.
