MEDIA RELEASE #10: Update on Cedar River Flooding in Waverly

The southeast Waverly residents can now return home.

Waverly Utilities staff will be going door to door to begin electric reconnections to homes which can safely be turned back on.  If the homeowner is not present or if the electricity is not ready to be turned on, we are asking customers to please call 319-559-2000 to schedule an appointment.  Please go to www.waverlyutilities.com for more details.

If your property is without gas and you are ready to have it turned back call on, call MidAmerican Energy at 888-427-5632.

Garbage for southeast Waverly residents in the evacuation zone will have special collection on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday.  Special collection involves using your city garbage container and having it out by noon each day.  Normal garbage collection will resume Friday morning.

Water-damaged items, such as carpet and furniture, need to be placed at the curb (no cost for water-damaged items).  Additionally, you must call Public Services at 319-352-6247 or Public Works Administration at 319-352-9065 to schedule collection.

If needed, cleanup kits are now available at Waverly’s City Hall.

Sand bags can be placed at your curb for collection or can be returned directly to Public Services at 2900 5th Avenue NW.  Please use the far west driveway.  Call Public Services at 319-352-6247 or Public Works Administration at 319-352-9065 to schedule collection of your sandbags.
