Artists to fill Kohlmann Park at 11th annual Waverly Art Walk

More than 30 Midwest artists, including several local artists, will display and sell their works during Art Walk, Waverly’s 11th annual juried fine arts and crafts show. The event will be held Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Kohlmann Park, located in downtown Waverly, along the Cedar River. Art medias range from painting, ceramics, metal sculpture, photography, jewelry, and more.

In addition to the artists, the event will also feature live music by Irish Punk band, The Langer’s Ball from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Buskers from 2-4 p.m. Also, a kids’ activities by the Waverly Creativity Co-op, food vendors, and a musical petting zoo by the Wartburg Community Symphony Association.

“There are 10 new artists among the 30 plus who will participate this year,” said Jennifer Jones

Ruiz, Art Walk Director, “We are excited about the continued interest in Art Walk each year by artists, and look forward to seeing Kohlmann Park come alive on May 7.”

The judges for the juried part of the show are Wartburg College Professor Emeritus and artist, Arthur Frick, former art teacher and artist, Margery Hibbard, and Nick Keplinger, a sculptor and award winning wildlife artist. Cash prizes for Best in Show, Second, and Third places will be awarded to artists.

In case of poor weather conditions, the event will be held in the Waverly-Shell Rock High School’s Bock Gym and cafeteria. Art Walk is co-sponsored by Waverly Leisure Services and the Waverly Chamber of Commerce. Art Walk is free and open to the public.
