Open Burning

As of July 1, 2004, only Waverly residents with a parcel of ground greater than 1/2 acre are allowed to burn yard waste on their property (with time restrictions from 9 a.m. to sundown).  The Planning & Zoning Dept. administers these Burn Permits.  For further information, please click here to be linked to the Burn Permit page.

Recreational Fires:

Recreational fires using clean, dry wood or charcoal are allowed on any size of lot.  Fire rings cannot be greater than 4 feet in diameter.  There are no time restrictions for recreational fires.

Burn Barrels:

Burn barrels are not allowed for the burning of any material.  Call Public Services at 352-6247 to schedule free removal of your burn barrel.

Illegal Burning:

Garbage and construction material are illegal to burn.
