11 June 2012- sTEP Results for Memorial Day

Waverly Police Dept.’s “Click It or Ticket” Campaign
results in safe travel during Memorial Day Holiday!
On June 03rd, 2012, the Waverly Police Department completed the statewide specialized traffic enforcement project (National Click It or Ticket Campaign) that began on May 21st and are happy to report no accidents involving a personal injury or fatality occurred during the two week project period in the City of Waverly. The following is a report on the activity Waverly Officers conducted.
Waverly Officers made (04) OWI arrest and investigated (04) OWI cases with no arrests; they issued (10) seatbelt citations and (09) warnings; (02) child restraint citations and (01) warning; (23) speed citations and (23) warnings; (01) improper pass citation; (05) stop sign/light citations and (04) warnings; (03) driving without a license citations and (02) warnings; (02) driving while suspended, revoked, or barred citations; (04) registration violation citations and (09) warnings; (01) open container of alcohol citation; (03) dark window citations and (07) warnings; (02) citations and (11) warnings for other traffic violations; (26) Faulty Equipment warnings; and (03) No Proof of Insurance citations and (08) warnings.
Waverly Officers investigated (07) property damage accidents during the project. They also assisted (04) motorist and served one arrest warrant during the sTEP project. Seatbelt surveys conducted prior to the enforcement activity indicated a 94% usage rate and the survey conducted after the enforcement period showed an improvement in usage to 96% .
Eleven Waverly Police Officers participated in the saturated patrol efforts during this sTEP phase and we would like to extend our appreciation to the Waverly residents and those visiting our community for their safe driving efforts.
