Terex Corporation Announces Closing of Crane Manufacturing Division in Waverly, Iowa

posted in Economic Development on July 19, 2016

Officials from Terex Corporation have announced the immediate closure of their crane manufacturing operations in Waverly.

Terex has been a valued employer in Waverly for many years and we are extremely saddened by the announcement.  Waverly has a proud history of the manufacture of cranes by dedicated employees of Shield Bantam, Koehring, and Terex. The loss of this industry will certainly have an economic impact on those employees, the community and the region.

Waverly’s immediate priority will be to provide support to the individuals and families directly impacted by the closure.  We are already working with Iowa Workforce Development to provide information and services to the impacted workers.   We will work with our partners in Iowa and the Cedar Valley Region to identify opportunities in Waverly, Bremer County and the Cedar Valley for jobs and training that will allow the affected families to stay where they now live and work.

Our focus will be on our families, friends and neighbors as they navigate this difficult time.

Welcome to Waverly. Great schools. Diverse housing options. Robust job market. Top-flight indoor rec center. Outdoor recreation adventures of all kinds. Prestigious Wartburg College. And a safe and welcoming community of people who value the good life in a beautiful place.
