Art Walk Returns to Kohlmann Park for 12th Year

posted in Chamber of Commerce on April 26, 2017

Art Walk will return to Kohlmann Park, in Waverly, on Saturday, May 6, for its 12th year. Thirty-six artists from the tri-state area will display and sell their work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the juried fine arts and crafts show.

Artists are pre-selected for quality and originality prior to the show and will be juried during the show for cash prizes. Art Walk judges this year are Wartburg College Professor Emeritus, Arthur Frick, of Waverly, and lettering artist and illustrator, Scotty Russell, of Cedar Falls. Jewelry, acrylic painting, ceramics, sculpture, fiber, glass, wood, photography, and more will be exhibited by artists.

Live music by The Langer’s Ball, Irish Punk Rock band from St. Paul, Minnesota, will play from 11 a.m. to 1.pm. Food vendors and kids’ activities are available, as well as a musical instrument petting zoo by the Wartburg Community Symphony.

“We encourage anyone to come to Art Walk, especially if they have never been before,” said Jennifer Jones Ruiz, Art Walk Director. “It’s really neat to see artwork from so many talented artists in the beautiful Kohlmann Park setting.” There is no cost to attend the event and it is open to the public.

In case of poor weather conditions, the event will be held in the Waverly-Shell Rock High School’s Bock Gym and cafeteria. Art Walk is co-sponsored by Waverly Leisure Services and the Waverly Chamber of Commerce.
